The bachelor party is your friend’s last big chance to get away on vacation before the wedding, so why not make it as memorable of a trip as you possibly can? There are some incredible bachelor party destinations in the United States that will fit just about any budget, so if you’re in charge of booking the trip and you’re looking for bachelor party ideas here’s a good place to start:
Las Vegas as a Bachelor Party Destination
Well, this one is kind of obvious, right? Las Vegas is simply the premier bachelor party hot spot, and for many, many good reasons. A Las Vegas bachelor party can pretty much offer anything you’re looking for, whether it’s a relaxing week spent by the pool with elegant dinners at night, or wild debauchery filled with booze, gambling and women or really anything in between those two extremes.
Las Vegas is affectionately known as Sin City, and any vice imaginable can be satisfied in Vegas – which makes it a perfect place for a group of friends to hang out for the extended weekend to help celebrate your friend’s last ‘free’ weekend.
New Orleans as a Bachelor Party Destination
New Orleans is one of the wildest and most surreal places on Earth – and it will not disappoint as a bachelor party location. The dichotomy of the genteel southern hospitality as exemplified by the four-star dining and service at Commander’s Place and the insanity of Bourbon Street at 2:00 a.m. are hard to reconcile until you’ve actually spent some time there. Then you realize that it’s just New Orleans, which is a place that operates by a different set of rules from the rest of the world.
New Orleans, and specifically the French Quarter, is a great location for any bachelor party as you’ll find bars on every corner, dozens of world class restaurants, sightseeing, history, craziness on Bourbon Street, gentlemen’s clubs, a casino and much, much more. There are numerous hotels offering extremely low rates in post-Katrina New Orleans, and most major airlines fly directly into the city, making it an inexpensive option for the bachelor party. New Orleans is vastly underrated as a bachelor party destination, but it should be at or near the top of anyone’s list.
Atlantic City for a Bachelor Party
If you live on the east coast and really want to get to Las Vegas, but either can’t get away for that long, or can’t really justify spending all that money to fly there, then Atlantic City should be a front-runner in your bachelor party destination search. Atlantic City is located on the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey, and it’s really quite accessible by anywhere in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland area (though people certainly travel from further away than that to go there).
It’s basically a smaller and less grandiose version of Las Vegas. There are at least a dozen enormous casinos, the beach is literally right outside your hotel, there is more than enough nighttime entertainment for any bachelor party group, and it is very inexpensive to book hotel rooms there during these tough economic times.
New York City for a Bachelor Party
The City that Never Sleeps considers itself the center of the universe and it has everything you could possibly want for a bachelor party. You can go see a Mets or Yankees game during the day, go to the trendiest restaurant in the city for dinner and party the night away until dawn at any bar or club you see fit. Easy access from any airport in the country and thousands of hotels make this an option that might not be as expensive as you would guess. A bachelor party in NYC needs to be a major consideration for your trip.
Some other Options for a Bachelor Party
If partying and drunkenness isn’t your friend’s scene then consider a golf weekend in Hilton Head, or an adventure weekend doing whitewater rafting, hiking, skiing or playing sports. You can consider wrapping a long weekend around a few sporting events in the city of your choice: to go Chicago to see the Bears and the Bulls or Los Angeles to see a Dodgers and a Lakers game.
There are many other possibilities such as going to Disney World, Miami, the Bahamas or Cancun. The important thing to remember is that it’s all about the quality time spent with your friend. Make it a memorable bachelor party by making sure all his friends are there and you’re certain to have a good time no matter what destination you select.
